Avatar: a brief review

• CGI: Done surprisingly well.
• Story: Cute. Not awesome, but not bad. Who doesn't love a conflict, resolved to a love story?
• Man factor: Enough fight scenes and explosions to keep the men folk happy. Plus, Sigourney Weaver lends some street cred.

BUT

For those of us who can get motion sickness when the film jumps all over the place (generally in crazy action sequences), beware. If action sequences = some queasiness, then action sequences in 3D = very sick. And this is a long movie, so I missed the last 1/3 of it keeping my eyes closed and my dinner in my stomach.

I suck at this

But hey, I get something posted every once in a while.

I am happy to report that I am officially done with my Masters program and will never go back to school again (as a student). And I mean it this time.

Now Xav and I are headed up to Phoenix for the University of Arizona's 35th anniversary reception, which is held at ICIS this year. We'll be staying through the week while I attend sessions, collaborate on research, and start prepping for my classes at Boise State.

Happy holidays to everyone... I'm pretty sure that between finals, prepping, and moving myself to Boise, I won't get Christmas cards out. ::sigh:: Maybe next year.
